History[edit]
Solaris Resources Inc. has its origin in a corporate restructuring that took place in 2018. The company was originally known as Equinox Copper Corp. and was focused on mineral exploration and development. However, in 2018, the company underwent a major transformation and rebranding.[3]
In December 2018, Equinox Copper Corp. completed a three-way merger involving several mining companies. The merger involved:[3]
- Solaris Copper Inc.: A mineral exploration company that had been focused on copper projects in the Americas.
- Luminex Resources Corp.: Another mineral exploration company, primarily focused on gold and copper projects in Ecuador.
- Newcastle Gold Ltd.: A company with gold exploration projects in Canada.
As a result of this three-way merger, the combined entity was renamed Solaris Resources Inc. The new company inherited the exploration assets and projects from all three original companies, creating a diverse portfolio of mineral properties, including copper, gold, molybdenum, lead, zinc, and silver projects across various countries like Ecuador, Peru, Chile, and Mexico.[4]
The rebranding and consolidation allowed Solaris Resources Inc. to benefit from the expertise, experience, and resources of the merged entities, positioning it as a significant player in the mining and exploration industry. The change in name from Equinox Copper Corp. to Solaris Resources Inc. also reflected the company's renewed focus and commitment to its diversified portfolio of mineral resources, with a primary emphasis on copper and gold exploration projects.[4]
