In 2017 Helios and Matheson acquired MoviePass and soon grew to 3 million subscribers.[1]
In February 2019 the company was delisted from the NASDAQ and began trading on the OTC. They announced the start of shooting for the movie Axis Sally, a World War II drama starring Al Pacino. In the previous month they announced their intention to spin off the MoviePass business.[2]
Cofounder and previous CEO Stacy Spikes purchased the assets of Moviepass for $140,000 in 2021. He intends to reopen the service in 2022.[3]
