NFI Group Inc. has a rich history that dates back to its founding in 1930 as Western Auto and Truck Body Limited in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The company initially operated as a manufacturer of bus bodies for various transit agencies and transportation companies in the region. Over the years, the company expanded its operations and product offerings, becoming one of the leading bus manufacturers in North America. It went through several name changes and acquisitions, and in 2008, the company was rebranded as New Flyer Industries Inc., reflecting its focus on building innovative and environmentally friendly transit buses.[2]

In 2015, New Flyer Industries Inc. made a significant acquisition by purchasing Motor Coach Industries International, Inc. (MCI), a renowned motor coach manufacturer in the United States and Canada. This strategic move further solidified the company's position as a major player in the bus manufacturing industry.[3]

In 2017, the company underwent another transformation by changing its name to NFI Group Inc., representing its diverse portfolio of brands, including New Flyer, MCI, ARBOC Specialty Vehicles, and other acquisitions.[3]
